Roundhouse Valve Chest; Is It Broken?

Afternoon all,
With her ladyship ill and messy roads outside, this afternoon I set about servicing my second hand Millie (built 02/99) which I purchased last year. I had ordered a cylinder service kit to replace some well deteriorated O rings on the valve spindles and so began by disassembling for access.
Once I got the screws that hold the valve chest on to the cylinder removed I noticed the chest was very loose on top and the steam inlet which tied into the steam pipe seemed not to be held in by much if anything. Seconds later, the inlet pipe dislodged from the steam feed completely.
I assumed there was a nub on the end of the inlet which was held and sealed into the steam pipe by the large nut at the end, but the diagram from roundhouse doesn't show such a nub. See links:

The question is thus: is the inlet pipe simply a press fit into the steam feed, or is there a nub or such that should be attached but would now be broken and contained by the nut at the end of the feed pipe?
