Sounds more like a statement than a question to me! Not a daft one either! I have a thing about sound cards and I purchased a diesel sound are for my railbus from a man in Jersey ( can't remember the name) which changes as the engine speed changes etc and a horn that goes off when first moving then at random intervals but silent when stopped. Sounds good eh?! No it's not the sound is not great at all is very thin and electrical sounding the horn mind is good! The other cards we haveare for our Jessie and a scratch built Kerr Stuart which are both ACME and are brilliant! I can't recommend them highly enough. They come in a couple of different diesel engine sounds so you could have two different locks and they will sound quite different. Just google ACME sound card and you will come across them. Well worth it. The other sound card I have is a steam engine sound from Maplins the electrical parts people I believe they also do a diesel too and they are dirt cheap but you do have to solder them yourself! Great fun! Hope that helps.

The ACME unit is great but doesn't change the note with speed, have you seen the new Chuffed 2 Bits unit??

Starting with the last post on the above link, I've done a "video comparison" of the sound cards mentioned, the subject ran over a couple of pages but if you just follow it through you can watch each video in turn - hope that helps ;)

Is the Chuffed 2 Bits unit one of the Mtroniks ones, possibly the "Small Diesel Tug" - http://www.mtroniks.net/details1.asp/Pr ... d5msdt.htm ?

That's not bad at all! Andel Models are developing one (fixed speed) - I'm getting one in my Avonside.
