SHR Summer Running

Post by SillyBilly » Wed Jul 23, 2008 9:03 pm

Today my friend and I played trains for a while, he steamed his Lumber Jack for a while, then we ran 'Isabelle' for a hour or so. Much fun was had making jokes about operating the SHR under the rules of the WHR(C) (he's been a trainee guard there this week!), needless to say we each got suspended a few times which was followed by a "Sod off I the General Manager!". All photos are copyright Harry Saville.

"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

Spiffy. :D
'Oliver's no use at all, thinks he's very clever. Says that he can manage us, that's the best joke ever. When he orders us about, with the greatest folly. We just push him down the well. Pop goes old Olly!'

I've been out playing trains as the weather today has been summer-like. Earlier on I installed one side of the 'new' slate cutting, I don't reckon it looks too good, so when I'm next in Blaenau Ffestiniog I shall scavange some from my friend's yard, these won't be roofing slate and therefore will have more of a cutting 'feel' I hope.

It was good enough to take a photo of though!

'Isabelle' races in to the woods, one of the advantages of replacing the track is that it can now race without de-railing!

I like the brake handle compartment thing on the end of the I.O.M coach.

I'd like eventually to have slate on both sides and a footbridge over the top

looking great will! it's maturing nicely! I've been playing trains too today, albeit River Helford lol!

are you going to embank some soil or something so it's level with the track to disguise the blocks?

If you want slate go up to Cwmorthin, all the slate you would ever want
Nice pics, good to see that you can get that Isle of Man round now!

Much easier to go to my friend's yard, it's by the side of a main road, I'm not that strong  .

Well you just park the car in the small car park and Cwmorthin, open the gate, take piece of slate, close gate and put it in the car, dosn't require much strength (although it is an operation done best with at least 2 people), although if the place you mention is the place I think it is, I always go past there when im in Wales thinking "they've got some nice bits of slate there, wonder if they would let me have any"!
