I.P. Jane

Post by MTA » Tue Jul 22, 2008 4:48 pm

Whilst running my Katie earlier, I realised I have not made a video of my I.P. Engineering 'Jane' yet! So I used all my Peco track on the flattest part of the lawn:

and steamed her up. I kept her in steam for 45 minutes, before I had to pack up. I did not let Katie run on the grass, as she is far too heavy and she was leaning precariously into the bends!

Great to see your IP Jane in action at last Si.

It is a bit hesistant going round the curves. Any reason for this? Are your wheel sets both set to the same back-to-back measurements? I found both my sets of IP Jane wheels were set to different settings on each axle, and now corrected to the same setting.

Chris,

The rear wheelset is slightly further apart on the backs than the first wheelset.

However, I cannot get them out of the frames to rectify this as one of the bushes (or was it two?!) on the rear wheelset is turning in the frames. So I cannot get them out to punch them to the correct back to back.

But the other reason for her to be hesitant is that the garden goes uphill, and the loop is at the bottom of the hill...

There was an interesting piece in the 7 1/4in Gauge Society Magazine recently on how drag increases on curves.
