That looks nice. You must be excited. Also, I just watched your winter video, I hadn't noticed it there before.

What is the lowest temperature you've run your locomotive at, Kjell?

Thanks for the greetings!

The Silver Lady will have some more details; chopper-couplings, change some cheese-head screws to hex-head bolts, real coal-lumps in the coal-bins, a chuffer, and of course nameplates.

In some way I think of this engine as a female - there are more things on the engine to handle at same time ;) and she is a beauty. :D
Her brother is a RH Billy called "ALF". Maybe the "Lady" should have a nordic name of a kind? What do members of the forum suggest?

The temperature was about 10 degrees below freezing. I did not actually have any problems with the gas flow or burner.

"Nordsjöld".

I don't know what it means, I just went to an island with that name in the Arctic ocean and liked the sound of the word. Norwegians named many things in Canada.

I think "ALVA" would be a nice female name matching "ALF".

What about "Frøya"? Or wait a while and se if she reveals her name herself.

A name for my Silver Lady ... :?: Suggestions so far:

ALVA - old Norse origin
FRØYA - old Norse origin / goddess
NORDSJÖLD - Canadian origin
FRIGG - old Norse origin / goddess
VICTORIA - latin origin
VIKTORIA - latin origin with nordic letters

The "nordic" letters ÆØÖÅ are a little peculiar for most members of this forum, but not actually a problem when ordering the MDC-nameplates.

As I see it, it has to be:
"Alfhild"

I have discovered that I spelled the word "Nordskjold" wrong... there is a letter "k", as you can see.... otherwise I have also discovered that it is just some person's surname, it doesn't mean anything. A related name is "Nordenskjold", which is also some person's name. So although I think it would make a good name for a locomotive, it doesn't mean anything in particular other than being the name of a small Island in Canada, as well as an Archipelago in Russia.

I think out of the suggestions so far, I like "Alva", it goes well with the other locomotive's name.

Hello

Some times I'm looking for a model which gives me a historical recognition.

The picture below was taken in 1920 showing an old 2 ft NG line from my hometown. The 0-2-0 engine - an O&K and the hoppers
was carrying gravel and sand to a silo. Standard-gauge wagons was then filled with sand from the silo. The NG line was in
operation from 1905 untill 1950 when a fire destroyed the sand silo.

The next picture is how the scene looks like today. :)

The wagons are LGB converted to 32mm gauge, and the LGB-couplings are replaced with RH-couplings.

Nice picture. I see your snow is probably gone; no such luck over here yet.

Here are some pics from the last livesteam-meeting at the Pine Hill Railway (PHRy).

Enjoy them ...

October 2013

Here are some pics from the last steamup-meeting at the Pine Hill Railway (PHRy). A nice warm saturday - and everybody was having a great day.

Enjoy the pics ...  :D

PHRy's new coach  - a Brandbright PS18. The coach is fitted with boggies instead of the axelboxes that comes with the kit. This because my line has a lot of narrow curves.

Guess who? ;) A nice shot of my train.

You have a very nice and inspiring railway. I look forward to the next steam-up.

The Silver Lady with the air-pump belongs to railway-friend that tricked me into livesteam and the fantastic world of 16mm NG on 32mm track. :D
He also showed me how to put accessories to the engines - without beeing afraid of drilling holes in these expensive things ... ;)

December 2013

A new engine arrived at the PHrY before Christmas - a Roundhouse Little John.

Image
I think it looks too nice and glossy now, but I will try to make some weathering to it.

Image
Here is Little John with a rake of gravelwagons.

The last wagon will have a brakeplatform for the brakeman. It is actually not a platform - it's more a seat hanging on the rear end of the wagon.
The wagon came this day out of the paintshop. I think the painter must have had a bad day. ;)

Excellent, thats exactly the sort of thing that I want to do to the one I've just bought. How easy would it be to distort the LGB plastic?
