Snow Plough

I got bored last night, after coming back from a stressfull SDGRG meet, by way of my edrig not working! So thought I'd get rid of the stress and make a snow plough, from this:

Which ended up, as a first attempt, like this:

Got it at exeter, its a jarassics (however you spell them) one, much more detail than IP!

Even though I'm hoping for a bit of snow this year ( not like last year with the 1 1/2 feet of it!)

I prefer snowy winters to wet ones... wet's just boring and miserable.

Nice snowplough Alistair. However, is that a mock up or the real thing? As IMO the plasticard looks too thin and flimsy to take anything more than 1 inch of snow at most, unless you've added plenty of reinforcement behind?

A fellow 16mm'er I knock about with came up with the idea of using maybe a Mamod boiler and rig it up onto a wagon as a hot steam plough

Looks good! I sympathize with your snow-woes. I'm hoping to get just little enough snow to do some actual winter running this year. What we'll get is more likely to be in the 2' to 4' range.

Just started building a plow, myself. Mine started off as just an attachment for any wagon, but as it's gotten heavier with progress I've set about building it a full chassis.

It is the final snowplough, abd there is lots of I bar behind! So won't go anywhere!

My advice would be to make it as heavy as possible, and have the front edge as close to the rail as possible. It looks great.

Yep no snow this winter just a lotta rain .. so attach a sponge on the front and some form of collection for the water cos we are in for a long hot dry summer..our British athletes in the Olympics wont take the heat! Oh and cut down on the chocolate not good for you! Whys no one used a Mamod rear scuttle for a snow plough mmmmmmm............

Same thing really if it did snow and we know it wont u know those butane torches could u use one of them or a few to melt yer way thro the snow they could be rigged to the gas tank.. after watch out for any snow men in the way though.. im on the lemsips as well!
