Starting of the Devon Hilly Railway

Post by anythingsdr » Tue Sep 20, 2011 9:53 pm

Last night saw the buying of the track that will start the Devon Hilly Railway, which will be aproximately 15-18 yards (Track Dependant!) Paid for by the parents for my 18th, so thats the free drinks gone out the window! Saturday week will (With any luck) be the start of the DHR!

Only one I could do Is for the invoice! But that might be unwise! Considering I ordered it for mother:)

Got a track plan sorted, but Havn't had the time to make it in Paint properly to put on here! But its going to be basically an end to end line, with one end being a major station with a couple of sidings etc, and toher being a loop and a siding, with the Loop in the middle the same. So should allow flexibility!

Work started today with the first section layed, a train run, and the track removed! Sadly no pictures of the first train, or anything else at the moment owing to the lack of batteries for the camera! Only two sections of flexi track so nothing special, but I've got nearly all the single line parts dug, sand based and ballested ready for the track, so might have a railway soon!

After much nagging from the Planning Department, The railway is nearly finished, and will be open to first passenger service on the mainline hopefully by April. A few pictures below, as Nagged by Pete (MHLR).

The 'Small' Station, Track needs re-guaging as i got it wrong!:

The Middle Loop - as was, Now the Engine Shed & Branch entrance - Still under development, but passable by trains!

The Entrance to the 'Main' Station - Signalling already installed!

Very nice start! Check your clearances in your loops as you might find you could be close to having a few minor accidents with passing trains.
I like the ballasting definitely looks the part!
No one expects the SPANISH ACQUISITION!!!
