Hi Everyone,
I made my first attempt at the jigstone molds yesterday in preparation for making a bus shelter. We used two scoops (a scoop saved from an old container of Vanish) of sand and two scoops of quick-set concrete, with enough water to make it a smooth mixture.
My jigstones came out crumbly, so clearly, there's too much sand.
Any suggestions on the mix ratio?
(Oh, and I will post photos of the failure. I sculpted them into a little "ruin" in the shed. LOL)

Apparently I made an error. We used quick-set cement, not concrete

Like MDLR said, use neat quick set cement. I bought Brian's (MDLR) moulds a couple of years ago and this was the advice he gave me back then and it worked great!! It takes a few attempts to get the hang of it initially, but once you get down to it, you can be knocking out bricks in no time and creating buildings you never thought imaginable!! Jigstones are great fun!!!

A friend even lent me his extra set so I could do more...unfortunately, his are for stone, not brick Oh well. It was the thought...
I think we will be getting new cement so I can start knocking them out a little faster.
