But £1,500 is a lot of money, I'm sure for many people it was the cheapest way to get an NGG16, I want to see an NG15 in 16mm now :lol: !

I want to see this Garratt that i have made up :lol:

Its called a Beyer Mallet. Bassicly its 2 chassis with a tank on top then a immense boiler then another 2 chassis with a tank on top :lol:

Wouldnt that be great!!!

That makes no sense Jimmy, becuase Beyer only manufacture it, so a Beyer Mallet, is just a Mallet built by Beyer Peacock! :roll:

Also, if you're wanting a coal fired one, keep your ear to the ground too... ;)

To qualify as a Mallet loco one of your drive units would need to be fixed, whilst the other can articulate. In a Garratt both units articulate. And if I've got it right a Saxon Meyer has a fixed and an articulated unit, but the cylinders are both in the middle of the loco.

A '16' is a 2-6-2 2-6-2 Garratt, a '15' is a straight 2-8-2 loco with a bogie tender.

If you include the tender, they are both almost the same length!

The Welsh Highland Railway has examples of both types.

There is no such thing as an NGG15. The correct term is NG15.

NG stands for Narrow Gauge, NGG stands for Narrow Gauge Garratt.
