Right, so it's final, I'm building a steam loco! However only having acess to basic tools it is based on mamod parts and will be geared. It's gonna be sooo simple it's probally only go direction to!
It's gonna be geared.

I like the way that your using mainly mamod parts to build it, i'd like to see how it actually turns out! Looks like a good first step (i assume?) into scratch building a loco!

If you're building a geared loco, it might be a good idea to include a flywheel to get you over the "dead spots" of the single cylinder, and smooth things out a bit.

Brian is right, without a fly wheel a single ossy wont do a full roatation unless its going light speed especially with gearing holding it back. Also your meths tank will need to sit between the frames. If the burner pot tops are lower than the top of the tank your meths will all leak out. 4 wheel drive is also a good thing to think about

The meths tank is just there to show it, intending to use a mamod one, it's jsut a rough drawing there, but thanks for the advice and promising views

I'm a bit worried by the worm drive, you will get lots of power but not much speed. The more mechanical bits before the wheels get the power the more the loss is.

I agree. Worm drive is not good.

Something like this maybey.... made with a mamod chassis and mamod loco cylinders and reversing block.... uses meccano gears...
