Another Bug Box

Post by taliesin001 » Sat May 08, 2010 4:06 pm

I went to Glendale Junction this morning and came back with one third class ip engineering bug box to add to my FR rake. I've made a start, building the main chassis and varnishing. I have used trimline tape, instead of paint for the white panels which I have stuck on. Here are the first pics. This one will probably take alot longer than the others, due to exams coming up very soon :(

Quick update from this mourning, the overlays and ends have been painted, twice with undercoat and three top coats, sanding in between. It has produced a nice finish I think. The sides are drying now! :D The side overlays will be lined using a gold marker pen, whilst the end overlays will be lined using thin white trimline, painstakingly applied, very stressful! :D

Having basically finished the exams yesterday I have been having ago at finishing this coach. I would like to finish it by wednesday so that I can use it at my grandads, we are visiting a couple of railways so it would be nice to have this. So far the box has been built, with the side overlays added after lining them. I use trimline for the end lining so I will have to go and get some of that either today or tomorrow.  Transfers have been ordered which may or may not be here by next week. The last picture is not the finished coach but my other one, it will look exactly the same. I'm currently filling in the small windows at the side, it never had these origionally.

This is what my FR rake looks like now with the extra bug box nearly finished. I will get the trimline tomorrow and the transfers should arrive soon. Apart from that it is done.
