I wondered if you were comin to PTLRfest. Should be a good day. I have spent thelast week working on the garden. There has been some really dramatic changes including new buildings, flower beds and my personal favourites are my slate walls. Think this is th first PTLRfest where no new track has been laid! There is still 2 weeks tho!laalratty wrote:Well after just over 2 months of work, the buffet car was put on its wheels today, and many of the details are being added (including 3 lego glasses that are just the right size, thanks to the person who suggested lego for detailing). The couplings are on so the carriage can be towed as well, but your gonna have to wait for the official unvailing for any more pics, but surffice to say that in my opinion it looks rather nice. Just need to get some people to populate it (must be ready for the PTLR fest on May 4th, PTLRcecils giant steamup)

I don't really know how i've managed it considerin it just loads of old scrap slate. It has brought about another wall building job, this time for a friend of PTLRsam. Once the wall is rebuilt I start to build him his own garden railway, which is great as I have no rly of my own to work on! It will be 45mm, track powered with 10 ft radius curves.laalratty wrote:Bungle, you will have to show me how to do slate walls, mine look ok but the buggers keep collapsing
looking forward to the fest though and seeing what you've done to the garden

That sounds like a nice railway, ummm 10 foot radius curves
today sent off for people to populate the buffet car, hope modeltowns service is quick otherwise buffet car will have to run with no people in it at PTLRfest (but with food and drink )

Its being built with Aristocraft pre-curved rail. The idea is, that people with great big huge massive ginormous electric powered locos can run no bother. Or very big live steam!?! He has a friend somewhere in the south (London-ish I think) who has such locos that will likely be visiting providing the min radius is not too sharp!laalratty wrote:That sounds like a nice railway, ummm 10 foot radius curves

getting back on topic, im still not giving any pics but text updates as to whether the carriage will be ready for PTLRfest will keep coming......
today the glazing was finished, using super glue which is margially better than using epoxy (they both tend to end up staining the glazing to an extent) but it'll need tydying up. The main problem is figures, I hope that modeltown are speedy with dispatching orders!
Still to do as well are drill hole and stick on vacum pipes, make and fit steps, final transfers for class etc (coach numbers already done) glue in details like mugs, plates and chocolate bar rack nd then when figures are painted and glued in, the roof can go and be painted, with hopefully enough time for a couple of laps of my track to make sure it dosn't derail. All this and i've got geography coursework due for May 9th......

It's ok im not going to totally blow all school revision just for this coach and anyway I've just had 2, 1 1/2 hour long sessions on the coursework over the last 2 days, plus I could tell you what i got for AS geography out of 300 but that would be serious gloating.......

PTLRcecil told me last night it was 10 Even the garrett might find that lot a challenge. I hopeing to bring 3 or 4 the buffet car, the obs and the gladstone car are certainties but the 4th carriage in that rake is a semi open that isn't as good as the rest of them.

The garret might have problems with it yeah. However hidden in the deepest darkest depths of the PTLRs workshop, kept under high security (actually its buried under a rag, some screwdrivers and bungles mamod is the Black Beauty. Ive been running trials with its new plutonium firing system.
It doesnt do much exept break the engine again and scare next doors cat.
