My dads got an original beck anna. (the one on ebay a few years ago for £77). It does run nice but has been heavily modified. Its one of those engines that are nice but you do have to be patient. Another thing its as strong as an ox. It beat my caradoc hands down in a load test.

Cecil your engines on Fire!

Its a Mamod it does that.

Sorry to hear about your 'accident' we wondered where you had got to!

The loco was still on the display this morning, the stand number according to the show guide was 122 - Barry Jones, but there are no further exhibitor details about him in the guide.

Well I did text Andy, Mike, so he should have known!

Thanks for the research. I think I may have to sell a few bits though first...

His phone number is local, so you never know...

Although as I have said above I would need to sell some bits and pieces first...

Sorry to hear about your accident Si.

It is amazing how close some drivers do get to cyclists on the roads. Did you get his/her registration? You could report him/her to the Police for dangerous driving, although it probably would not get anywhere.

I didn't get the registration, as it was pitch black at the time

Police don't really seem to care about cyclists.

I would cycle on the path, but seeing as it is illegal to do so the police would care then

Never ever does get anywhere with the police... alternatively, me and my dad out and a bout in the Landy, some cyclists have no idea HOW to use the roads (I aint talking about you Si...). One pulled out of a junction right in front of us, dad had to anker on, we had the trailer on the back loaded with gravel, so most of it spilled onto the road! As you can expect, a bit of a row went on... but no, the police never take action...

I know what you mean there. At the Ruislip Lido Railway (where I volunteer), we're always getting attacked by vandals, the police have so far done a grand total of f**k all about it.

Yet if we were to give the happy-slapping hoodies what they deserved ourselves, you can guarantee we'd be arrested and given a fine or community service! Where's the justice in that?

Or another example...(sorry, I'm drifting off topic here I know, but it's a subject that annoys me)...when a couple of graffiti artists were spotted near my school the police sent two helicopters out to chase them, along with about six cars and several sniffer dog teams...yet my uncle witnessed an incident at an agricultural show where an illegal immigrant was found inside a piece of imported farm eqiupment, and the police told the event organisers that they'd have to let him go as they didn't have the resources to deal with him! It's madness, and it's sickening. Our police force has got to get its priorities sorted out, or heaven knows where we'll end up.

Back on topic...

I BOUGHT IT!

Barry Jones was at the Midhurst show today, and he had not sold the Merlin.

I was allowed to test run it first, and she ran beautifully.

In mechanically as new condition, no wear on the wheels.

In the box (not original...) was a gas can adaptor (which I believe is roughly £10) some syringes and a bottle of steam oil. Although I believe the steam oil has gone off...

Not bad for £240 wouldn't you say? I will try and get some pics later on :)
