Going down t'Pub

Heres a little restoration I'm taking up. I bought a Pub on Ebay, and its looking a little tatty, but Im going to redo the plastering (i think he used pollyfiller...) and refit the widows etc. And rename it!

You need a Mamod steam wagon painted up in the colours and name of the MHLRs local brewery to delivery 16mm scale beer

Get a cheap crappy one on Ebay. Would need repainting so paint and rust isn't important

Well its been a loooooooooooong time since I last did anything with the pub. But today I had a start on it. It's been stripped of all the 'loose' plaster (pollyfiller!) and I took the signs etc off ready for replastering, painting etc.

Personally I think I would strip all the polyfiller off though.

A cheap way of getting is to look good would be to strip off the polly filler paint it with some old house paint (white or cream looks best.) then add some fine sand to the paint and put another layer on top. I have done this with my one complete (except lights and some interiors!) building. I even found fridge magnets and stuck them on to advertise various drinks. Before and after shots are below!

Are you going to do an interior? (Nice article about making simple building interiors with "Photoshop" or equivalent in one this months model railway mags if you're interested )

Hmmm, I was considering a bit of interior, but I went against it as you can hardly see inside in normal circumstances. The camera does tend to pick it up however, and if I fitted interior lights...

I'll sort out the article for you - basically you print out the room interior, fold it up into a "box to sit behind the windows, install lighting and that's it!

Having said that, in 16mm scale it shouldn't be too much bother to knock up and paint room interiors from ply and bits'n'bobs. Not forgetting the brilliant idea in the last issue of Garden Rail about putting up "curtains" with back lit cardboard cutout figures throwing convincing shadows on them!!!
