Regarding the turntable, how about one of those temporary ones like that had on the Talylln in the early days, and the driver and fireman "have to get off the loco and push the loco backwards onto the coaches".

Interesting! At porthmadog new on the whr the train would pull into thye station. The loco would detach and the train would be pulled into the loop by hand using a thick rope. This meant that the loco didn't have to leave the mainline because it was liable to derail on faulty points! Although this doesn't help with not having to reverse it is an interesting way of doing it!
Still got one (a bit longer than the one they used with old No. 7 mind) - has been used this week.mhlr wrote:Regarding the turntable, how about one of those temporary ones like that had on the Talylln in the early days

No, I mean you drive the train into the platform, uncouple the loco, run it onto the very small turntable, turn it around so it faces downwards onto the loop, run the loco down the loop just over the points, then hand push it back onto the coaches.SillyBilly wrote: That's not turning the loco round though, that's running round the train.
This is if Paul has the space for the loop? I'm not sure if he means he has no room for a turntable or anything such as a loop?
