One thing I can't make out from the photos on IP's web site is whether they have modelled 18's distinctive and terribly uncomfortable seat backs. It's just about the most solid carriage on the TR, but lacks passenger comfort.

the TR carriages are scale apart from their width. they are 2cm too wide :( Not a big problem, im going to buy a kit and cut the sides down to scale width! hope they come with double buffers!
besides it waill go nicely with my scale number 19

Ooh, very nice. Do you happen to have details of the paints you used - I had an enquiry recently from someone wanting details of colours to match TR carriage livery?

See im debating wehter to buy one :S ,
becasue i dont know whether it will go round my curves :S espicialy if i use double buffers , ahh well if not it can be a bit of stock to run at Llechfan :D

For side buffers on a bogie coach 4ft is the minimum radius. you may get away with a little less with 4 wheelers 3ft 6 is the tightest my TR vintage stuff will go around without buffer lock. Be very careful with your choice of buffers and get the highs of them to a set hight on each piece of rolling stock or shunting will become a no no. All of my TR locos now have over size buffer heads to stop buffer lock as do some of my rolling stock. Its the only way to practically make them useable as i close couple my stock also.
The colours I use for rolling stock are:
Humbrol Tan, 9
Humbrol Red, 60
then matt black underframes
grey or white roofs

You don't hve to use the side buffers though. The coach is pictured with ordinary centre buffers. Depends how 'correct' you want it but would save problems just to use the centre ones.

I built one "Pure and Simple" kit; it was not terribly precisely cut and went together with some difficulty, frankly. It doesn't run that often.

I also have a short rake of his laser-cut Vale of Rheidol-style 4 wheel stock, which were very accurately made, pretty easy to assemble and generally a joy to work with; there is no comparison with the earlier kit.

All his kits are accurate except the Pure and simple range for some reason.

Aye, my pure and simple carriage was an absolute sod to build compared to other coach kits, you shouldn't have to sand the wood as much as I had to!

I've only ever tried the laser cut range, as most of you would agree, they are pretty good.

Saw the new models in the flesh today at Narrow Gauge North. WOW they are amazing, my friend buying the Ezee Railcar (I want one :lol: ). Also there were some part built models of Talylln 4 wheeled coaches, amazing cn't wit for them to come out.

Haven't seen these yet, probably see them at stoneleigh. there are also supposed to be more of the whr range in the form of nwngr 4 wheelers so maybe these might be there.I'll have to get saving up! :D

oooh 4 wheelers that's more my type! I look forward to those definitely although I always feel guilt buying LASER cut stuff as I can do it myself!

But then you have to design it :lol:
It's not like IP stuff costs alot anyway compared to some companys.

exactly, very good value for money. I've scratchbuilt coaches before and the cost of mateials, parts etc is almost the same as a laser cut kit. Although on the other hand I do sometimes like to add detail to the IP kits. For vexample my bug boxes have brandbright brass door handles and blackham transfers, by which time the price is almost up to £50. Depends how far you want to go.
