WHR 26
A few months ago I decided to scratchbuild welsh highland railway coach number 26 in the rainbow livery. Below are pictures showing the sides and drawings from which I worked from. I have built the sides using a number of layers of ply to as to get proper window frames and not just having plastic stuck on the inside as per my previous attempts. This has probably been the reason for why I am only just beginning construction as I have had to get each layer to line up perfectly, this hasn't always happened. I will keep you updated with photos as the coach progresses but I am currently awaiting my bogies and wheels to arrive so I can judge whether I need to cut out holes in the floor so as to accomodate the height. After this I have everything I need to finish!

When you say one of the photo's shows the lettering ready for painting, what am I looking at?
Are they commercial letters that you're going to paint and then fix to the carriage? or are you making some kind of stencil to paint directly onto the side?
It's just that I'm considering all the options, including transfers, for lettering my own stock, ta!

the letters are laser cut. Will from the C&NLR cut them for me as all his whr stock have them. I enquired and he offered to make them as I was also wondering where you get them from.
Other details include footboards, grab handles and door handles obviously, chassis stretchers, vacume pipes although I need to modify the ones I bought, things that hold up the roof, safety chains, door hinges, people and a dog. I am also waiting on chopper couplings from brandbright, if they aren't made in time then I will use accucraft ones, but they are slightly big. The roof will be planked on the underside and covered on top.
