Light travels faster than sound, which is why some people appear bright until they speak.

Re: Thomas the Tank Engine
On the back of Garden Rail magazine a GRS advert stated that Bachmann were discontinuing the G range (UK only?). Quite surprised by this as Hornby have only just given up it's OO licence but looking elsewhere online I can't seem to find anything on this rude surprise. I know the G Diesel announcement a few months back seems to have been retracted but has anyone heard anything about the whole range going belly up?
Re: Thomas the Tank Engine
I wonder if the cost of the licence has got a bit high

Re: Thomas the Tank Engine
That's pretty much what the GRS said at their Llanfair stand when I was trying to enquire further. Still haven't read anything on this from any other source so i'm not entirely sure if such a licence hiatus would apply to the G range only, the UK as a whole or if it's all just renewal posturing. Has anyone else heard anything?
Re: Thomas the Tank Engine
I think the HO range that they sell is also finishing.

Re: Thomas the Tank Engine
There seems to be a little confusion about this - I'm talking to Bachmann UK and GRS at the moment. Hope to have some answers in the November issue of Garden Rail.

Re: Thomas the Tank Engine
The cost of licensing Thomas seems to be an issue in a number of ways - I read that the GlosWarks Railway are the latest line to stop running Thomas events, and they've always gone for those in a pretty big way...
Apologies for the drift-thread and for the, erm, "fruity" language, but I was reminded of this cartoon which I found pretty amusing...

Re: Thomas the Tank Engine
This thread from the National Presevation forum is quite interesting regarding the issues of hosting an event. The third post on the second page, is rather more tongue in cheek but had me chortling to myself.

Re: Thomas the Tank Engine
That's great Jim that post, maybe that could be the character references for an adult version of Thomas & his messed up friends (providing the producers can afford the licence fees).
