The flash highlights the scuffs, but I like the used look, just needs some door handles though!

Do you know how much the ends protrude at all. I think mine may be too dominant.

Do you mean the bowed ends? I'll take a pic from underneath tomorrow and a measurement too, I've never put the ruler over mine to check it for scale though, it just seems to look right

Yes it looks right and very well built is it a kit do you think. I think the ends protrude by six inches but the books say its three inches Im not bothered but all the books Ive got say different anyway but the less it is, the less I have to bend this plywood!!

Hey Thanks for measurements.. Guess what mine are the same exactly so at least Im following the right track and my construction seems to be the same method so far, cant wait to finish it now! You should paint the underside black and go get some door handles I still like that purple and in two minds what colour to paint mine In scale terms 170mm is 10.6 ft and I think thats what Ive read they are in lenghth and 96mm is 6ft wide and I think thats ok too so you indeed have a scale replica I believe! Some book did say 6'6" wide but whats 6 inches between friends. Excuse me that sounds rude beg yer pardon lol

Its not yet a pandemic as you havent caught the bug yet! We should all have a go a making a bug box! Mines comin on really well at the moment. I might have a go at a Penrhyn coach next as a guy in North Wales gave me a drawing then it might be a Talyllyn bogie coach. Greg Narrow Minded as given me a drawing for N0.9 so I might attempt that one.In fact I will do this one first. I see you are looking for a drawing any success yet! The bug box seems a quite easy one to do Ive just used mdf some thin ply and plastic microstrip.

Post by Crackingjob » Fri Jan 15, 2010 1:40 pm

You should try washing tablet boxes...really good fun

Inside...shows basic box with outer skin

Under workings showing wood base , Forest fencing clips and Binnie wheels

Image
Painted and sutably weathered along with bamboo place mat roof
looking darjeerling....I later covered the roof but the old school trouser material did not allow the planking effect to come through...should have tried tissue paper

Image
This was the first attempt at a van...nearly there

These were built by myself and No2 son some 5 years ago, using ideas from early garden railers....
