how does the price compare between the threaded cans and the yellow ones?
From the shop.........not good.

From the car boot trader.............................not bad at all actually, especially if you buy a couple or three and ask for a discount :D

Haha, right. Me Grandad buys bottles in bulk from aldi. But they only work with regner adaptors!!
I usually buy the Go Gas. The bigger bottles of butane/propane are much better value but I far prefer the plain butane ones in summer!

I think i need to start to get some just butane gas soon, as i'm still using butane/propane as i'm guessing that won't be so good in summer, and as i just looked out the window, it's snowing yet again, great, thats all i need........

No problems with blocked jets? I've heard some right horror stories about this stuff - are they just "old wives tales"??

Michael, it looks like you've got some discolouration around your Edrig smokebox.

With Edrig & Mortimer, try leaving the smokebox door open while the gas is turned up raising pressure. Once the gauge is up and you turn the gas down, then shut the door before you clear the condensate and start running. That should aoid it :D

Also, on the later models, the smokebox comes off really easy so you can de-grease it and repaint it no probs. (the earlier ones are a bit more fiddly but it's still an easy enough job!)[/i]

I had one blocked jet when I had to turn a loco upside down with a full tank of gas to get the oil fill cap which had fallen into a tricky place and once with my Regner vincent but never again! Thats in 4 years running. 4 years! Blimey! I'd never thought about how long I'd been 16mmilling!
I find Go Gas very reliable and not too pricey.

Have you repainted the whole lot, or just the smokebox? Be interested in hearing what preparation and paint you used, as I'll be doing mine in the fairly near future.

Fair enough. Done the smokebox on mine, but just rubbed it down, cleaned it and BBQ spray painted it- didn't see the point of stripping it, the factory paint should act as a primer.
