For pitys sake, they're BOTH AS BAD AS EACH OTHER. And that applies to the railways too

lmao it must be said there is something very wrong when you've got to walk a long way to get the token out so that the loco can pick up its carriages
Anyway, debunglefying a bit another couple of ideas for you Paul based on the sheds at Ravenglass. There is a large chalk board with columns for all of the operating locos, in these coloumns are written the times for the trains that engine is due to be working, or an appropriate note if the engine is unavailable. Also to be found in the shed is a stack of lighting up wood, a large container for rags and a big metal container for loco sand. There is also an oil store in a lean to built onto the side of the shed
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

But your Grandad's shed doesn't run a 20mile long railway with engines that do 40-80miles a day that *should* recieve maintenance to suit.
and you my friend have never worked on a Real railway iv been working on steam engines for years try carring out work on full size engines which run thousands of miles every year (im on about the severn valley) now before i get carryed away again im gona stop here but i could go on..... ;)

I'm afraid none of these supposed 'real' railways are long enough for me, I'd have to venture to the main line for that, though saying that the railway I volunteer for is a TOC so you never know...

The scraping of steam and lifting of branch lines was the best thing to ever happen , now you can volunteer on steam engines at weekends, and still have a job which pays well.

We were in pram mode so it wasn't too much of a bad day, untill we got to 600' or back to Dinas.

Maybe soon, There has been progress but not enought to warrent many pictures.

Funny you should mention it actually as I'm off down to the shed to do some more work on it. hopefully the roof will almost be complete. Then it's just a matter of the doors and finishing the interior detailing and its ready!
Thanks,

Well, some more significat work was done tonight, the roof is now in 2 peices rather than the previous 8 or so peices it was in!

Maybe some pictures tomorrow when it gets its undercoat of paint. Hopefully not too long off now before the roof is finished and I can get the doors started. There is still hope for it being entered into the MOTY competition yet!
