Started a scratchbuilding project loosely based on typical peatwagons, used in Finland but also I have seen similar designs used in many other countries including UK and Ireland. Underframe is done by laminating 2 mm thick sticks together in order to get a 6 mm thickness. Now started to build the wagon ends.

Wooden parts for the ends start to be ready. I distressd the wood and created more natural grain with a wire brush attached to a Dremel. Next probably the sides as I am still gathering material for the metal strappings and bolt heads.

I like the way you've aged the wood.

I sprayed the wheels with Rust Effect from Dupli-Color. It creates a nice real rust looking texture. I masked the treads and flanges before painting.

Love the distressing, you can't beat real wood.
I use a similar rust effect paint, some bloody good stuff they can put in a can now.
