Fancy a trip down Memory Lane? Or for younger members, a glimpse of a distant past?
Robert Symes - full name Robert Alexander Baron Schutzmann von Schutzmansdorff but known colloquially as Bob Symes was a reasonably well known face on BBC television in the 60's and 70's.
This programme looks back to the late '70s and covers 'state of the art' radio controlled modelling.
We have come a long way.

By strange coincidence I watched that through only yesterday. It must have been revived on Youtube?

Back in the day, Bob came and judged the annual modelling competition of the model railway club that I was a member of. Subsequently a group of us spent a very memorable Sunday afternoon at his house and garden railway. He was as pleasant and charming in real life as he was on screen.

I loved his programmes. Why don't they make that kind of programme now?

When you think about it, his programmes were made when we had only two channels (BBC and ITV) - now we have around 200 channels, so you'd have thought there would now be space in the schedule for the sort of gentle and informative programmes he used to make.
