Houses, buildings etc stl wanted

Post by GAP » Fri Jul 11, 2025 9:02 am

I am looking for some stls for Houses and other buildings so I can make a town scene on my layout.
I have searched thingaverse and all I can seem to come up with id mostly HO buildings (might be entering wrong search terms) I was wondering if anybody had come across some in their web meanderings.
They do not have to be highly detailed just basic houses preferably timber but brick would be OK.

I suspect that you will struggle with this one I'm afraid, Graeme. I can't say I've ever seen anything ( not been looking mind) and unless looking for a specific building, for most people it would be a lot quicker and probably cheaper to use more conventional sheet materials. Just look at the amount of printing that Trevor has had to do for his epic Festiniog constructions! I can't remember exactly but it took me about a week to print my water tower.

I have just had a quick look around and found this, don't know if would scale though.

Turbosquid seem to have quite a few houses of various types, but again scaling might be an issue

Graeme,

I think you would be better served by designing and printing your own buildings. Designing your own opens up so many possibilities that it has to be worth a try. Your buildings would then be exactly as you visualised them, and would fit into the spaces on your railway perfectly.

More effort, including learning a 3 D cad package. However I am sure you could achieve what you want with tinkercad, which everyone seems to find straight forward to learn and use.

Don't worry about the time taken to print things - that is mainly at night when you are not there. My large buildings just required perseverance!

Start with a small building - and see where it takes you.

Trevor
