The Millerbeck Light Railway

Yesterday I visted one of those "if only I had the money" garden railways, the 7 1/4 inch gauge Millerbeck Light Railway, near Newby Bridge. This is a private railway, however they open to the public for most bank holidays, as well as a couple of weekends throughout the year. Here are some pics.
Not the best pic, but the train is going up a lengthy 1 in 50 gradient at this point, as it climbs from the lowest point to the highest point of the line, with only a few short easier bits in between.
This is an engine William knows rather well, 0-6-0 Goliath which visits every year from about a mile or so down the Ffestiniog Railway from Will's house
A battry electric loco based on a prototype that used to work at Woolwich armory. Dad got to drive this on its commisioning day, lucky bu99er
Goliath runs into Millerbeck Junction
A Deucaville type loco built by a local engineer, who in the past built a working 16mm scale live steam Double Fairlie
Ailsa, based on an Andrew Barclay engine
The deucaville on one of the higher sections of the line, this was taken from the main station.
If you would like to visit the MLR, there is one remaining open weekend this year, on the 3rd and 4th of October. And if you want to make a week of it, Count Louis is visiting Ravenglass again the next weekend....
