Hallo,
In some posts I often see great motor vehicles, are they in a scale of 1:19 or 1:18?
There are few models in a scale of 1:19, but I know of them.
Since I build a lot in 0 gauge, we are very careful with the scale of the accessories.
Please tell me how you handle it.

Technically 16mm scale is 1:19 ratio so with modellers licence one can get away with 1:18 which in my opinion is acceptable. The model in the image below is a 1:18 Austin 7 sitting on a Brandbright flat wagon .
Not sure what continental o scale is but UK o scale is 1:43.5 so placing for instance corgi 1:50 scale models track side is a big no no .

I'll echo Chris' comment, with the caveat that 1:16 and 1:24 vehicles can also work quite well, if carefully placed away from anything too different a scale.

thanks for your comments. will then probably only use vehicles with a scale of 1:19/1:18, because they always have to be close to the track on my modules.

That Austin 7 looks fabulous, wouldn't mind one myself, so I went looking.... £142.99 2nd hand but mint and upwards of £60 2nd hand on ebay!

J have buyed this car in 1/19 -manufactored by Solido- for a low price(25€)

That is almost 1:1 scale barn find prices . I blame bangers and cash type programmes. I have just watched two ebay auctions for 1:18 scale period model cars end ,one was for a 1947 MG TC which sold for £31.23 and a 1937 Jaguar SS100 which I got for £11.50 . The Austin 7 is a nice model it has opening doors and bonnet so it would be ideal in a trackside garage diorama .

I have used many period (1927ish)1/18th scale vehicles suitably weathered and customised. I guess it all depends on how far you are prepared to go. Whilst I have built some vehicles from scratch, garden railways,live steam and realism is my main aim. Grant.
