A short 4-wheel wagon

This not the most exciting build but is my latest time waster.

While cleaning up my modeling room I found two front bogies from Bachmann Big Haulers.

So I thought they would be easy to use to make a couple of short wagons for my indoor line.

A few bits of 8mm thick pine, a lot of coffee stirrers, some glue, black boot polish and voila - wagon #79 is ready to run.

It is obviously an inside bearing arrangement - no idea if such things exist on wagons, but they do on my railway! I could add some fake outside springs and axles boxes if anyone complains.

I've seen pictures of tipper wagons with inside bearings, so you certainly won't hear any complaint from me! Looks like it fits right in.

The only inside framed wagons I can think of were early chaldron wagons. No doubt there were other styles.

Almost forgot. Some skip wagons have inside frames. You'd need to shorten the wheelbase, though.

Prototypical or not, I like that wagon Greg. "Your railway, your rules" applies and stuff anyone who disagrees!

If the NSWGR could use surplus garratt bogies as rail tractor chassis, I can't see why your claypit line couldn't use a couple of loco bogies from scrapped locos for flat cars.

If you look in old Hudson and O&K catalogs you will find various types of inside bearing wagons on offer, including flat wagons.
