I'm pleased to say that I was Skyping with Greg just now and he was actually the millionth visitor. It was on 999999 - then he visited and it went up to 1000000 in front of my eyes!

Well done, what a milestone.
Does that now mean that your blog can now be classed as platinum?

Wow, congratulations! Not surprising as it's a great resource, I keep ending up there while searching how to do things. :google

Thanks folks.
Reassuring to think that quite a few people may have found my ramblings of interest.

That's a plus one from me. I found your blog page before this forum and bookmarked it as I liked both the style/inspiration and information. Thank you for creating it.

Reading both Greg's site and Rik's blog plus this forum is what helped get me started on my Large Scale journey.
Rik's blog was the inspiration for starting my own when I retired and built my current layout, I still use it as a reference source.

That's very kind of you all.

My motivation for the blog was that I wanted to bring together the sorts of information I looked for when I was planning my railway. Rather than saying "I'm an expert, here's what you must do", I wanted people to theoretically peer over my should to see what I'd done and how I did it - even if their reaction was "There's no way I'd do it like that!"

Like everyone else in this hobby - I keep learning. I tend to muddle my way through and find my own solutions. But there's no way I'm saying my solution is the only one or even the best. Just one way of doing things. I fully recognise there are far more skilled modellers out there (and on here) than me. But hopefully, if my scribblings help just one person to take the first step in creating a garden railway, then I feel content.

Looking at the most popular topics on my blog, most of them are concerned with getting started. But it's also interesting that the posts about constructing an IP Engineering Jessie, converting an LGB Stainz and ballasting are among those most visited
