Well I've spent the last couple of days working on the interior, and depite having had most of the wood provided, it is taking a long time, indeed perhapes longer then if I was building the carriage from scratch! Anyway, here is what the interior is like now

Image
Almost all of the seating is made from wood that came with the coach, only a few unseen supports are new. The piece of wood to the left of the carriage body is the beginings of the bar, this has required some head scratching because of a lack of photos, however I think i've got it covered. This will then leave the tables, before the whole inside recieves several coats of wood stain.

Image
The beading has been revised slightly to look more like that on number 14, as shown by the side that has been removed, although the side still attached has been treated as well.
"What the hell is that?"

"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

Following some frantic effort over the last few days, I've got the interior finished now and stained. How good does it look? Judge for yourself...

Image
The interior during staining, with the bar now fitted

Image
The interior completed, including the tables, most of it has been wood stained, replecating the real coach (but without the upholstered seats, the ANLR makes the upgrade to first class fully worth it!)

Image
With the interior complete, the side that had been removed was put back on, putting the carriage back to the state in which it arrived on the ANLR
Next up is a complete repaint, ughhhhh :x

I put it off for the day, did a bit of sanding of the old paint before moving onto the goods van, and fixing on all of the missing details, trouble is that needs a repaint now as well! :x :offtheair:

Well I've bit the bullet and started repainting the carriage. To be fair its not been too bad to do so far, although the beading around the windows and doors is a bit annoying.
Here's a pic

Image
As for the carriages number, I've decided to replicate the FfR and give it the number 14. The ANLR did already have a coach 14, the IMP NWNGR workers carriage, however it is withdrawn as it donated its bogies to number 4, the Ashbury which had its bogies wrecked in the Jubilee bridge disaster.

Progress on number 14 has been rather slow recently, what with birthdays, steamups, preparations for university and also learning to drive! (I now have a car!) However, a certain forum chairman is having his annual holiday north this coming weekend and I am frantically trying to get the coach into a runnable state so that I can have a full FfR train of Taliesin, the bowsider, number 14 and my FfR observation car (I hope Will is drooling at this prospect  )
Today things came on quite a bit

Image
The carriage is now on its bogies, the paint job is about 75% complete, and looks fine from 6 feet away

Image
The glazing was fitted yesterday, after a visit to Ravenglass for a spot of track work. The roof sits alongside, this will be fitted tommorow hopefully, in time for a coat of black paint on friday. The carriage will have to borrow couplings off something else in order to run, but i'm hoping the incompletion should add to the Ffestiniog of the early 60's feel to the train (if only the Taliesin was a double Fairlie the illusion would be complete!)

Was a good purchase, I've nearly finished making the mods I want, but university rather slowed down progress. The solebars wern't paralell either, so when I first ran it it was "crabbing" down the track at an angle! I'm hoping to have it finished for new year, I'll try and remember to post some pics
I've also got a Welsh Highland buffet car, scratchbuilt, just about scale length but slightly bigger width and height to suit my other stock, and it is also based on the carriage as if it hadn't been cut down by the Ffestiniog, as I thought it looked better

Here is a pic as it stands, the steps have been fitted in the last couple of days, although what has taken virtually all of the time between September and now was the completion of the repaint. It still isn't perfect but I've had enough and just want to get the thing finished!
Image
Still needed are door and grab handles, completion of the paiting and fixing of lead to weigh it down a bit, it is quite light at the moment.
