My 5" gauge Reichsbahn class 55 steamer wasn´t running well so I had to check and set the valve gear.
Walschaert/Heusinger outside, nothing serious but....piston valves.
Slide valves are easy to set "by eye". I spent quite some time trying to get it right.
Today there was good weather and she went out onto the track.
Fired up, tested pumps and injector and....off we went.
Runs like new, no spots, no vibration, just right.
We put quite a few wagons behind the tender.
She ran well the whole day.
After running for a few hours (on anthracite as usual) the flues were clean, almost no ash in the smokebox and absolutely no clinker on the grate.
I guess I got the timing absolutely right.
