A friend recently purchased a coal fired model locomotive which performed very well on its first run in his owners ship. Due to having Covid I didn't attend and the video was taken by my friend's partner.

Pleasantly surprised to see a single tube gives enough heating surface for a coal-fired engine.

I’d seen the original and later video on YouTube and am also tempted by its simplicity, particularly as I have a two cylinder engine looking for a home. This is a non oscillating 10mm bore x 10 stroke engine which I think would look good in a open De Winton style engine. The boiler appears very simple and I assume uses just one centre flue and doesn’t have a water jacket to the sides of the firebox. Do you have any constructional details, dimensions etc that you could share? If your concerned about publicising a non standard boiler design perhaps you might consider providing these in a personal message.

Hi Mike,

The boiler is a none standard design in as much as it is a modified commercially produced one, the original builder wrote an article about its construction in SMT and the present owner has a copy, he is due to visit me tomorrow and if I can contact him before then, I will ask him to bring his copy, which I will forward to you, it will have to be a photograph as my copier has decide to give up on me.
