Video editing tutorial

I think this is the right place for this.

I've just created a step by step guide for editing a simple video with photos, video clips, titles, background music and voice narration using the freebie Video Editor which comes with Windows 10. If you hadn't realised there was a Video Editor built into Windows 10, you won't be alone - it's hidden in the Photos app.

Let me know if you think any of it is confusing or if I've missed a step.

Hopefully those who aren't confident about editing their own videos will find it useful

Thanks Rik, I'm sure it will be very useful, although personaIly I'm still using Windows Movie maker ( Yeah I know its obsolete but it's still good!)
I do think it's the right place, as you say, but I also think it should be made a 'sticky' so that it doesn't get buried.

I'm also wondering if it should be duplicated as a "How to..." ?

Thanks Philip. I too like MovieMaker. There is an updated version available which will handle HD videos for $15USD. I did wonder whether to do a tutorial for that but decided I'd stick with the W10 editor which all recent Windows computers would have.

Rik,
Are you sure? There is a product called "HD Movie Maker - PRO" which is available from the Microsoft Store for $15.00/£12.49 but it isn't actually a Microsoft product, I've checked in the MS Forums.

Yes, that's the one. I assumed it was based on the original version

Seen your blog Rik and again it is well written, shows the teacher in you. I am one of the lucky ones however with iMovie but it is pretty similar. I haven't done any videos for a lot time and I must admit they do show more for the viewer to see rather than photo's, which for me, I take a photo and completely forget to put it in a folder for that genre ie: Garden Railway, Me & Anne and so on. So I end up searching my 11000 + photos for something I might have taken years back.

Anyway your blog has got me back into trying more videos and hopefully I can get something done soon.

This only applies to computers though I imagine? I have a Lumia. (From 2016.)

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a video editor for Lumia. It looks like it has a fairly decent camera

Getting no new updates is so frustrating, just another tactic to try to force you into getting a new phone I'm sure. :cussing:

I'am afraid that's what all the mobile phones companies do, it's par for the course unfortunately. It's mainly because the tech gets better and better and the updates can't keep up with them, that's why they have updates I think for that reason and so they then decide that they won't give out updates for that particular model or year.

I am using a 10 year old MacBook and I haven't been able to get the new updated operating system for some time now, maybe 2 years..Same for Tablets also, no updates for them after a certain length of time.
It's the way of the world Miles unfortunately. :thumbright:
