A wonderous little project - Completed with pics and a video

I decided I would like a Little Wonder added to my fleet after seeing all the details in the book "Fairlie Locomotives of North Wales". The plans are in there for various versions, so I went with one with some updates and started the CAD work on it.

It's not finished yet as there is much detailing to add and also to print the parts to see if they fit as expected.

This is it so far.

Why would anyone take the easy path when there are more difficult things to challenge you

I have started printing the initial test pieces at a low quality, but I have to say the parts are coming out better than expected. I think there is about 4-5 days printing for this, so it might be a while before I can post up any more pictures

How are you doing it, FDM, or resin or a mixture?

Mainly FDM but a few little parts in resin. It's a case of print it in FDM and if it needs more detail, then it get resinfied  :D

I actually have enough parts now to try and put the basics together, if you here nothing, it went wrong, lol.

Well I have done a bit more work on this little project.

Clearly still needs paint, the sand post putting on, but I can't do that before paint. It also needs brake detailing in the cab which I have not around to doing the CAD work for yet.

Anyway, this is it so far, hope you like it.

Well no video, but it ran absolutely perfectly on the club track yesterday, which was a good job as it was completely untested, even the separate bogies had not even seen a track.

I am pleased it went well along with a number of club members who also liked it very much.

Roll on paintable weather, lol

It is looking very good - and it progressed much faster than my live steam version!

Thanks :)

I would expect a live steam to take an infinite amount of time longer, I didn't have to build an entire steam engine and boiler, lol

Well it's all taken apart now and in the paint shop. First layer of filler primer applied, looking ok so far. No photo, just have to take my word for it, lol.

Now, what colour, burgundy, brown or blue :dontknow:

Funny you should say that, I got the ford burgundy red out earlier and gave it a first luck of paint. Wait for a couple of days, do it again, wait another couple of days and some satin lacquer. Then just rebuild it all again, lol

Good stuff. Are you enjoying better weather than here in the Northwest, or do you have a spraybooth of some description? (Although today has been almost spring like)

I spray outside, but under a lean to type thing. It's been seriously nice weather today, sunny, warm..ish and not much wind. I got loads of bits sprayed up and even managed to do a load of "riveting" (stick on nail gems) to the Little Wonder today. All going well it should be finished within a couple of weeks or so, all going well.
