Question on using epoxy to scratch build a switch...
I would like to scratch build some switches from code 250 aluminum rail. Can I successfully use epoxy where I would normally solder?

My experience with aluminium is that it is very difficult to bond to, having said that, I am sure in this modern age somebody will know of an adhesive formulated for aluminium.

I had hoped to use aluminum for all parts of the switch.

Maybe Loctite is worth a try?
Have a search through their range.

If you are using wood ties as I do, no need to use epoxy. On my turnouts the spikes hold everything in place. I use Code 250 aluminum rail. Although my turnouts are of the stub variety, the frog is the same as a points style turnout.
