Putting the garden into the railway

After building the elevated railway I planted out under it to fill in the under space, bit of the opposite way to most layout builds in that the track went in before the garden.

I have used shrubs that should grow to the top of the fence and will spill out between the upper and lower levels.

I planted a couple behind the trestles they will hide the big black pot and give a leafy background to the high trestle.

The plants are called Acalypha and are a tropical plant that are used for hedging but grown mostly for their colourful leaves.

That's how I did Mine on the raised section, track first and then plant underneath, the original intention being to keep it just above track level. Now however, track is running through a forest !!

Constant pruning beat me in the end.

That is the effect I am aiming for.

By contrast, I started with a hedge and built the railway into it. Same end result, different route.

The one nearest the camera with the paler green leaves is Orange Jessamine or Satinwood ( Murraya paniculata ) and I notice that it is native to Nth. Queensland. It has larger leaves. The further one is Sunset Lillypilly (Syzygium Australe ) has much smaller leaves and grows like hell!

Murraya paniculate also know as "Mock Orange".

In the pictures in the link to my blog below the plant seen looking straight out the shed is one, I had cut it back before the picture was taken.

It was removed along with a tree to make way for the railway, the tree remover told me that cutting mock orange ruins chainsaw blades quote It's like cutting wire rope".
