Thanks Tony. I like your approach for a smoke box throttle, ingenious. It's certainly tamed the little engine.

Was the exhaust regulator a bought item? I've not seen that before. Does it need to be adjustable? What happens if you just pinch the top of the exhaust slightly?

Own design homemade.

Yes; to accommodate different loads.
What happens if you just pinch the top of the exhaust slight.
It would have the same effect but would give a fixed back pressure which couldn't be altered. If you fit a silicon tube into the chimney and over the exhaust pipe, run the model and squeeze the tube with pliers you will create the same effect. If you try and stop the wheels with your finger you should be able to feel more power at lower rev's with the tube squeezed.
