Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Brilliantly shot Rik. I particularly like the February scene the most with the fog it looked very eerie and atmospheric.
Looking forward to the next instalment.

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Thanks for the feedback chaps. It was sometimes a bit of a challenge setting up the filming sessions even though I had prepared a detailed 'script' for each one. Even so, if you look closely there are a couple of continuity gaffes (not including where the speed of the train from one shot to another wasn't matched).
Like most things, having made one video like this, if I made another it would be better.

Great video as usual Rik. I particularly like the end scene (December) - that slight incline really adds a level of realism to the whole scene.

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Thanks. A couple of people have made similar comments. One even suggested it was similar to the Lumiere Brothers' first cine film, which I felt was stretching it a bit but I was grateful for the compliment.

Ha, that was me! I'll admit it was a bit of a stretch but I was struck by how lifelike the low shot looked. I had to remind myself it was a model for a second. Though to be honest I wasn't too concerned about a train rushing out of my screen!

Part two of the Year Long Video saga. This time back up the line - March being filmed during a blizzard (such dedication / stupidity!!)

Thanks chaps. Glad you enjoyed the videos. It was sometimes a challenge filming the sequences, but I'm glad I did it as much as a record for me as for others.

Lots of nicely composed and neatly handled shots, as always, especially all those with no glimpse of the real world looming in the background (I do appreciate how difficult it can be to avoid it).
Set-dressing with all that βsnowβ is extraordinarily convincingβ¦ 0-6-0 Harthill is very pleasing too. Super!

Would you believe that October has been the first opportunity I've had this year to rub a full operating session! Mostly it's been down to poor weather in this part of the country, but on the few occasions when the weather has been fine, I've been involved in other activities. Life does tend to get in the way sometimes!
Anyhow, here's the first instalment of this year's first (and probably only) full running session.
I hope you like it.

I have watched so many garden railway videos on Youtube but none compare with the purpose and character of yours Rik. Your voice helps describe the scene calmly, but not too seriously. Looking forward to the next instalment already.

It's been a funny sort of year at the WIRL too. There have been some additions to the permanent way, a new shed, and (following Rik's observation on our opening video) a new station is developing. Sadly, we haven't managed to record much action to share before the weather has changed.
As always Rik has provided another inspirational show from Peckforton. Glad to see you have been able to get in some running and masterful story telling.
Cheers

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Perfect timing too! I had just come in from an afternoon of framing the raised bed for my eventual railway, and was feeling pretty discouraged about the lack of visible progress over the last few months, when a Peckforton notification popped up and all was well. All that to say you're not the only one at odds with the weather and competing activities this year, and I feel like I'm in good company!
