I thought about a low relief one, but the room is there to do full and then leave some space for something else. No idea what the something else is!

We got the 2 sidings in a the weekend! Nothing is quite secure yet, but it meant that we could have a play!

It a seems to work as we want, quite pleased with the turntable, but I need to build a lid to cover it when not in use, just to keep a little more rubbish out of it!

Looking good! Hopefully, the turntable well has a drain hole. .....

It has a drain hole.. But it's not that big! Had to fish rubbish out at the weekend to unplug it! Hence the need for a lid, to at least keep the big stuff out and let the rain drain.

Having got all the track down I'd been able to 'play trains' with the kids. Something just wasn't working for me though. The two sidings hadn't come out in the final plan like I thought they would, they were too short. My idea was to be able to stable and store stock before sending it off down the line, one train of stock was filling the siding.

So, I lifted part of it and started to play around with the layout of the points to make better use of the space. Being able to push back the entry point of the station on the curve changed the whole setup, I'm much happier now with the way it's come together.
I could even add a kick back siding to the front siding at some point! But that might just be too much track! I also stole the right hand point from the yard on the through station, so I need to either buy another right hand point, or twist it slightly to use the left hand one I have.

That looks much more user-friendly - pleasing to the eye too...

We had a run last night, much better. I had some trucks at the back of one siding, while my daughter was able to put her train together in front of them.

I do think a kick back siding is coming. The slate wagons or tippers run into that front siding and pushed back into a loading area would work nicely.

Also, I think I can get a reverse loop into the main loop in the garden, the traffic got heavy last night with people running round, a reverse loop over the middle would have really helped! Means more track shopping.. But I think the supplies have dried up right now..

Over the weekend we had a go at building our first proper platform! I cut some strips that sat just at rail height to be the shuttering around the edges. I then used some grip fix to tack it into place, trying it out I found it stuck pretty fast, but would break off again fairly easily. I made up the edging and then held it in place with a few bricks.

The I mixed some standard mortar, 1 to 5 ish cement to sand in a bucket and chucked it it! Using a stick to level it off to the shuttering. Then to add an edge we placed a few slate bits along that were in the garden and left it to dry.

It doesn't look too bad. I think I could made it a little flatter if I'm honest. But it looked flat before it set!

Starting to feel I should break this out of a project and start a railway thread.. But, anyway..

Couple of other projects on the workbench. I bought some modeltown people, really fast service, I wasn't expecting them to turn my order round quite that quickly. I painted up the first 3 people. I needed a driver for the diesel, one for Katherine and a guard for the second station. I've a couple more to paint, but more than about 3 at a time I find somewhat overwhelming!
Then Bob on the footplate of Katherine has been complaining that he needed a shovel. Looking around I couldn't quite justify £13 for a set of fireirons, so I tried with some brass I had kicking around. Not too bad! The second one will be for the quarry hunslet. Just needs some primer and black matt and all good!

Thanks to a very generous individual on this forum, I've started a my first ever scratch built coach that will be specifically designed for the Playmobile people who like to enjoy my railway.

First I did a little mock up in carboard..
Then last night I put it all in clamps while the glue dryed.
Then today a clean up, filler, primer and test fit on the chassis to make sure it's going to work.

Very nice! It's got the feel of one of the Penrhyn quarrymen's carriages...

Couldn't quite decide how much of the chassis to hide, but I think I'm happy with it..

Looks like things are coming along nicely. Always a landmark to my mind when the railway becomes populated.

The Playmobile people all dashed out in the garden this weekend to enjoy the train ride. My daughter was running the family to the camp site.
These are bole laser craft buffers, not quite finished as the 'buffer' bits are not ready to be stuck on.
A little more work and it's starting to look more like a railway

They'll have a very jolly time, judging by the liquid supplies on the flat wagon!

That's a very nice carriage, and you're right, the railway's looking good - love the turntable.

Found a little time to make some progress.
We have fencing on the platform, buffers and ballast.
Starting to look like a railway!
