Old Newbie !

So, I bought an Lgb starter set 30 odd years ago with the idea of extending and running it round the garden for my children. At that time I realised I couldnt afford the track to do it, so it ended up being occasionally being run round the front room. Now my son has two boys of his own, so I thought it was about time it went out in the garden for my grandchildren. That is now done if only, for the moment a simple loop but a big one. I originally had a Stainz loco as a part of the starter set. I made an attempt to anglicise it a bit(though not any particular engine) and then put a digital board in it. I also bought a second LGB loco and a Piko controller(love it)
I then started to build some trackside buildings for the layout. Havent got far yet, but thought I'd share what I have done so far.
Everything is totally scratch built and I am enjoying myself doing it.
Not experienced in Railway modelling, but made my daughter a dolls house years ago and I also have a scratch built 1/8th scale lightweight landrover half done and what will be(maybe one day) a working scale model of the Falkirk wheel. I have not (shock horror) made an attempt to replicate real existing stations etc,I make it up as I go along to suit myself albeit with reference to photographs and adapting them for my own ends. I started with a very vague theme of the Railway Children because it was my daughters favourite film as a small child. That set a time period of early 20th C.
I have seen that there are some very skilled modellers on here and it would be good to connect with some of you and pick your brains.

Hi Mike and welcome,
impressive structures you have there, the detailing on your signal box, station building and footbridge are all beautifully done and have great character.
I would love to see pictures of the dolls house you made, perhaps on another 'Off Topic' thread?

Hello!

What great pictures, thank you! I'm particularly enjoying the figures, which are beautifully painted.

A working Falkirk Wheel sounds intriguing, and quite a project!

I look forward to further pictures (of any of your projects!) in due course...

All the best,
Andrew.

Are you trying to tell us something about blondes in red dresses?

Nice work.

Do I detect an outbreak of Suffragettism ? !
I like the cameo of the Gent getting caught by 'the missus' ogling at the blonde.

Nice signal cabin too :)
