That's some really professional work right there. Even your lathe is quite nice, especially compared to mine.

Finally the frames will stand up on their own - just. Drilling and fitting the angle pieces at the moment

Nice work Dave :thumbright:
I am slightly confused  , because you've said before that you are not planning to have sprung axleboxes,
but looking at your last photo (too small to be totally sure) there appear to be pockets for axlebox springs?
Any chances of close up photo and clarification from you?

Thank you!

Those are slots to pass the rod from the axle box to the leaf springs above. It's all likely to be solid as the loco could be rather lively with such overhangs if it were sprung, but we will see

Having a go at making the leaf springs. The leaves need further trimming in length to get the profile better

Your photos are not doing your work justice.

Can you up the resolution when you resize?

Nice springs, lovely stuff.
Keep feeding the pics and updates.
I now wish I had taken the trouble to make spring.
Perhaps next time.

Very nice, my assumption is the leaf springs are individual pieces of brass, how did you keep them together, glue, solder or a pin through the centre

Thanks lads. The leaves are copper, I had a piece the correct thickness, and hacksawed and filed each piece. The central strap is now drilled through to attach to the axle box push rod. I'm working on the hanger brackets now

The leaves have been trimmed

Nice job Dave, are you going to just let them weather naturally.

Had a whoopsy yesterday with the hanger cross-hole position being too low. Plugged it with a piece of rod, silver soldered, and then cut out and filed down.

I've made another hanger this time out of brass rod. Hmmm, I wonder which to go for? The leaf spring and hangers so far are just a trial

The pictures are better quality using your digital camera.

I like the brass rod bracket.

I reckon the flat bar type is more prototypical.
