IP Engineering Jessie rebuild
IP Engineering Jessie rebuild
So I've recently acquired an IP Jessie diesel from the interweb, seems complete although it's apparently got glued wheels (45mm) which will need modifying and the general finish is a bit rough but will do for now. Haven't had a chance to test it yet but the wiring seems to be all connected up, will likely convert this to radio sound so it's no big issue!
We had a Jessie before but sold it on due to lack of use. The LVLR is currently overhaul many of our battery locomotives and equipping them with Mylocosound sound cards. Currently the Playmobil diesellok is converted and is a firm favourite with the group, the Playmobil steam engine is awaiting bodywork from Mr Acton.
Jessie is an attractive early industrial style diesel; not sure what real-life manufacturer inspired it but would love to hear suggestions from everyone!

Re: IP Engineering Jessie rebuild
How is the gearbox? I've replaced all but one on my IP tin diesels.
Cheers

I had to replace the gearbox on mine three times. They do tend to be a weakness.Johnnie1000 wrote: βWed Jul 17, 2019 8:11 am How is the gearbox? I've replaced all but one on my IP tin diesels.

I installed an MTroniks sound card in mine.

It appears to be a replacement gearbox but I haven't yet looked at it properly.
Picture here:
[ Name will likely follow our current diesel convention; Forest of Dean enclosure names. We have two diesels, the Playmobil is named Beechenhurst whilst a small diesel is named Shallow Vallets. Would like to get a prototypical worksplate at some point as well.

Re: IP Engineering Jessie rebuild
My Jessie was one of the first locos I acquired and in poor condition, I stripped it completely and re-built it with extended chassis either side of the bonnet. I believe it still has the original motor and gearbox although doesn't get used a lot (like all my stock!), however, with the RC Trains control system is a really smooth and responsive runner.... nice loco.....

The weathering on your "Jessie" is brilliant Peter. I love it.....

Re: IP Engineering Jessie rebuild
Hello-in February I put up a post you can see further down about fitting the new IP engineering 3D printed gearbox with brass gears to my old Jessie. It's a simple drop-in fit, correctly drilled for the retainng rod to go through, so if you have any problems with your gearbox, this is a simple solution
Re: IP Engineering Jessie rebuild
So, after a complete rebuild - including a new motor, gearbox and Fosworks RC and sound; the finished article:
