Hi all,
I must apologise for this update being overdue, I had a large electronics assignment for college on the go which was prioritised. This prevented me doing a lot of work on the railway. After this week was over I finally had time to do some modelling but I went to stoke over the weekend to watch the football match (a treat for my dads birthday) so I had little time for posting. The next week I was set back more by my email not working so I couldn't change the size of the image files. Fortunately, it was fixed today so I am now able to post photos of progress from the past weeks in a large update so here goes...

First of all, my dad decided to sell his Cheddar Iver because there is a new engine on shed: a Cheddar Iver (but with a tender and in much better nick). Its also in blue - hopefully not for long though!

Secondly, I have started to detail my rolling stock further by adding Cambrian bolt heads and dummy brake gear. I am very pleased with how this has turned out as it has completely transformed them. There is still many other wagons to detail.

A while back an IP engineering Lucy was bought second hand with the intention of it being an engine fro be used for when I Can't be bothered to steam up. It had a poor paint job that had suffered from sun damage and was peeling in places. I had never realised but the postage company actually offer a specialist service that I like to call Kit unbuilding . The locomotive had arrived conveniently in flat pack form - a complete transformation from how it was sent . Undeterred, I set about stripping the parts of old glue and paint and started to assemble the engine. Next, some filler was used to get smoother joins between parts. a coat of primer and a couple of maroon
paint and I had a decent looking loco. I added some weight to it and then left It in this state until last week when the advent of cold weather made me realise I needed a battery diesel. looking at the model I had been building, I thought It looked a bit plain so I set about adding rivets, louvres and access hatches. It is still unfinished but I have wired it up and gave it a test on the track and it could pull 10 wagons comfortably! I need to add more rivets and some details (not to forget the rest of the cab) before I finish it with a coat of matt varnish.

Finally, I have finished detailing the interior of my IP Talyllyn guards van by adding working hatches. I have been very pleased with this kit as it has made a nice model.

Lots of nice detail work there, especially inside the guards van. The sliding shutters are a nice touch.

It's been a long time but here is an update:

Not much has been doing on my railway due to college work and the cold winter weather but I have managed to finish a few on going projects. First of all, I have finished a swift sixteen guards van I have had sitting on a shelf for around a year. I have to say how impressed I was (still am) with the quality of the parts and how easy it is to put together. Next I have some photos of an Andel braked wagon I got as a Christmas present. The kit looks very good however it is not quite as fine as the swift sixteen wagon. Finally, I have finished my ip engineering diesel. It was given a coat of Humbrol enamel matt varnish spray to dull it down a bit. A tool box and a chuck were added to finish it off.

Great looking rolling stock. I really like what you've done to the IP loco. She looks really workmanlike now. Maybe the enforced disassembly in the post wasn't such a bad thing after all

I do admire your attention to detail. All the little extras make such a difference.

The diesel's names was what came with it; I liked it so it stuck. And yes, maybe it is a positive that it came apart in the post after all! With the arrival of snow on the line the latest addition to the locomotive fleet was sent out to clear the line with the snowplough. This is the first time I have run anything in the snow before so I took a video of it and uploaded it to youtube. Here is the link as I haven't learned how to put it directly on the forum :

Putting videos on to the forum is easy enough mate.

When you are playing the video on Youtube,

Click the share button, then click copy, I then click the highlighted txt and click copy.

Then on the "Post A Reply" page on our forum, click the video button.

It will show in the reply box as a like this..... [video][video].

(I move the two of them apart slightly), then click in-between them and then paste your video.

It then should show your video.

Evening all,

With todays advent of good weather I decided to venture out into the garden. I cleared most of the leaves off the railway and other basic maintenance. There has always been 2 types of ballast at St Kew Highway due to the availability of one stopping . This was fixed today by changing all the ballast to one type; giving the railway a much more uniform look .The other areas were toped up as well while I was at it. The signal box will return in the spring.

That's looking really good - I particularly like the triangular platform, very nice... I wish my garden was looking as tidy at the moment!
