OK - only 7.25" gauge - but trains are once more running at Southwold! An historic occasion.

Hooray!!!

I hope Big Jim can enlighten us about the references to steam engines in Isaiah.

This is the closest I can get.

"Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day"

Isaiah 65.5

It is great to see what is being done with the Southwold. This is one line that I never thought would be got off the ground in any shape or form. Even when the group started it looked like nothing would ever happen but it would appear that things are moving forwards.

Than you for that Jim, I am grateful for your time. A little lacking in detail I fear but steam locomotion was still to come so open to interpretation I guess?

Thanks for sorting that out, Jim. I suppose there's something in the Bible for every occasion.

I've lost count of the number of thwarted schemes which the SRT has put forward over the years. They also have a stretch of trackbed at Wenhaston which, one day, might become the site of a steam park - https://www.southwoldrailway.co.uk/trus ... n-project/

I visited last week and they look to be pressing ahead in all directions, 3' and 7 1/4". Nothing is ever fast with a small group but they seem to be a dedicated and enthusiastic bunch. The station building is workable (café) though again with plenty still to do. The 7 14" G was pulling passengers at a steady rate, so there is public interest too.

Some three foot gauge track has just been laid at Southwold. Nowhere near the 9 miles of the original but it's a small step forward.

It wouldn't let me post it as a hotlink and so I've had to download and re-post - should now be there

That is a very pretty locomotive (without meaning to be rude). Something about the proportions and the colour. And what is 'Corrie'?🤔😅
