It does look good, I was thinking of getting a satin top coat to take the shine off the green, I've seen a few done and it makes them look a little less pristine which I like

Tom,

I have to admit, no, I can't. I have no idea why not. When I did OO Everything I did was weathered, even if only very lightly. For some reason I can't bring myself to do it in 16mm. I do admire those that can and do though and yes I've seen your Smokey Sophie thread. She's a beauty.

I've got loads of my own oily rags. thanks. For the moment, I'm happy just gradually reducing the shiny bits, wheels, handrails, dome, boiler bands etc.

My goods stock is matt, coaches are satin, and my solitary locomotive is glossy! I may one day pluck up courage to weather, but not just yet :!:

Managed to have a painting session at the weekend, smokebox, SB base wheels and inside the buffer beams - definitely a marked aesthetic improvement:

Looking good.

What high temp paint did you use on the smokebox out of interest?

Also, the boiler plug you have there is it a top up valve or not?

Next up is opening up the valve covers and re-setting all the valve timing, used a vice to press on the cranks and it has improved the running - still some movement but no horrible noises! However setting up the timing from all of it being off without opening up the valve covers proved unsuccessful 😂

Also will be ordering the body kit soon, have seen a few LA's without the rear bunker which I quite like so may leave it off.
Still haven't decided on a colour.

Awaiting a name plate - brass on a black background 'Scafell Pike'.

And finaly at some point I need to pick up my chuffer from royal mail; who finds 'open 9-1' useful?!

Cheers, I just bought a can from the local DIY shop, think it was for log burners etc, but cures at room temp - no primer which seemed alien to me! But survived a steaming with no issues and am pleased with the results visually.

Boiler plug is just the standard one.

Great name Jack…. :thumbright: :thumbright:

Blooming Royal Mail, I have a post office just 1/4 of a mile away, but if they can’t be bothered to leave with a neighbour I have to go 8 miles to the next post office they take anything to if they can’t deliver it, even though I also pass another 2 sub post offices on the way….. :x :x

Making good progress. I can't help with the valve timing, but it looks good so far.

Most of the Lady Annes without bunker I've seen are the coal fired versions. However it's your locomotive, so go with what you think best. For colour schemes, why not have a look at http://www.lightline16mm.com There are a lot of colour schemes there that might provide inspiration. I think I've chosen the colour and name for my next locomotive. Just have to decide which locomotive. I might order the nameplates though. :D

If you watch the end of this video my SL is being towed by a gas fired Lady Anne without the bunker (I like the look of it as well):

Yeah I like plain, and then put a brake vac bag on there, looks more prototypical to me? Like the back of an l&b loco etc. Maybe a set of fire irons.

No fireman wants 3 places to shovel from 😂

Thanks Ian, yeah I think I've seen that site, that's what makes me think I'd like a br lined black livery - so many options! I guess at the end of the day it's not a massive deal to change the colour!

Yes,agreed, a pleasure to watch, it is soothing to see trains at real speeds. It is simply a joy to watch a steam loco move like it is a train.

Fairly minor update, got round to fitting my chuffer and also spent ages resetting the valve timing from base principals and it's much better again but not perfect. Might end up handing it over to someone who knows! Really please with the louder exhaust and less mess out of the chimney!

I'll be ordering the body soon but as I'm moving house pretty soon I think it may have to wait a couple of weeks!

Also; does anybody know the lead times on the slomo?
