finished my new ip rapier kit  :D
only problems I had was the roof which I replaced in the end with a piece of painted photo







it struggles with anything more and makes a rather horrid noise which I hope will go away as its ran in

Nice. Did you fit a 4w drive chain? Have you greased the gears with grease or Vasaline?

no I didnt fit 4wd and I applied plenty of grease to the axle boxs and the gears

I'll let you know how my 4 wheel drive one goes when it's built. I think they all make a noise - try gently tweaking the motor to alter the mesh of the gears - that helps (and helps to improve battery life).

well I have rewired it so it goes forwards instead of backwards and that seems to have stopped the noise.

Nice one!  :D  Have you seen the series of videos I made about constructing these? I fitted a reverser switch as you see in the videos.

Here's my Lucy, built in February, fitted with 4wd which makes a big difference. It will haul 6+ (aint got more!) empty skips or 3 loaded with granite up my line which has a big gradient. They do make a bit of a noise because it resonates inside the bonnet.

althought I think its better to spray them instead of brush painting myself looks more crisp

oh right I didn't spray it because I didnt have any yellow spray paint and it doesn't really bother me on wood because its not as smooth as metal so brush marks are barely visible anyway using fine brushes.

and its quicker to apply and drys in minutes

how long did it take to complete your kit?

I started and finished mine yesterday
