With me being new to this hobby is it best to use destilled water or am I able to the water from a kettle which has been boiled for our boilers. Any advice will be greatly accepted.

Boil it for a bit, then run it through a filter (paper coffee filter should do). That will separate out the limescale.

I live in a very hard water area, the chalk hills of West Dorset, so filtered rain water does for me.

We have a small de humidifier so I will be using the water that collects in the tank from that at least I have a safe source of water which I can bottle up for further steam ups.

Just watch out for other contaminants like fluff and hair!

Dehumidified water, strained through a pair of the wife's tights is what I use. (It is best to remove the legs from the tights first.)

Ah, tights and railways always seem to crop up.

I use a pair with a hoover to pick up scatter material that has not glued properly so it can be reused.

Again, best to ask the owner of tights first before using and then keeping forever in your toolbox somewhere and then you get funny looks from people who you help out with tools later on in life...

Hi all.
I use filtered (3 paper coffee filters together) rainwater. To start with i had trouble collecting enough at any one time but one evening i left out in the garden 3 of those fold up garden chairs that you can pickup in Wilkos at 2 for £12. In the morning i had enough collected in the seats to filter and fill a 2L. Lemonade bottle. Job done.
Just keep it in a cool dark cupboard.
