That does look nice and love that colour combination .

I rather like the old LNER tourist stock livery and thought it would suit these slab sided steel coaches well. I am somewhat bracing myself for ordering the waterslide transfers for lettering these puppies out, as Ga.3 transfers are big and therefore expensive, but at least they only need LNER and a running number. Unfortunately, the running number is liable to be pretty lengthy.

Very nice Peter, great colours.

Here is my part finished Newqida. Inspiration taken from Dougrails conversion, with a colour scheme to match my Maroon Lady Anne and based on the BR blood and custard. It has had the roof anglicised. The picture was taken in very bright sunlight so the colours are not exact, and a little bit of finishing is required, This is mainly transfers and reinstating some minor details. (When I find where I put them 2 years ago!).

A second coach is in the workshop, at painting stage, but progress has been slow!

Thanks Grant. Yes, they're easy to modify and adapt. A cheap starting point too. I have some thoughts about a guards/brake vehicle but not got round to it yet. The puddle is actually a glass topped table

I don't have one of these coaches myself but Just Julie (of this Forum) has one and I am impressed with the quality build and potential to upgrade as you wish.
You certainly have given yours a new look.

At long last I have finished my four Newqida coaches. I have modified one to resemble a brake vehicle. Just trying to source some crests now to finish off the coaches.

When they have a run out I'll take some pictures and post them here.

I like these coaches but don't know much about them. Are they metal? What sort of height are they? I have an IP Atlantic buffet coach and it seems a trifle under scale to me. At 135mm from rail height the buffet coach is dwarfed by my 0-4-0T.

They are on eBay, all details are there.

Hello Invicta,

The coaches are all plastic, including the wheels. They are fairly easy to dismantle for altering/repainting etc. My Lady Anne is 160mm high. (This may include the whistle on the cab roof). The coaches are around 150mm high. I have replaced the wheels for GRS 32mm gauge ones so I don't know how high they are with the original 45mm gauge wheels which many regauge for 32mm. I will arrange for a picture of a coach and locomotive together for you so you can gauge the height.

I am considering buying two more. One to convert to a buffet car, and one perhaps to completely rebuild which I may shorten by removing the balcony and adding doors on the sides. They are cheap enough to experiment and mess around with.

Here are a few pictures taken this morning to illustrate how the coaches compare in height with my Lady Anne. Apologies for the state of the lawn! I estimate the coaches to be 6-7mm above the height of the cab roof of the locomotive. I've still to sort out the couplings yet.

Thanks Ian. That's very helpful. They are quite large, or should I say well proportioned to match 16mm scale locos. Yes, I'm tempted, especially as they are
reasonably priced.

My rake of Newqida's is complete. Well that's what I thought. After a test run and looking at the pictures I think the sides need a logo or crest, and the brake needs a lamp bracket.

I'm pleased with them so far. They do run very well. The bogie side frames are pivoted so they have a form of compensation.

Those look great, you've achieved a really good finish... Lovely livery too.

I've vaguely considered a couple to keep available in the storage area under the house as a sort of knockabout, ready-to-run-at-short-notice passenger train, but I think they'd dwarf all the other stock I own...
