Plod was on the right track but his inspiration and direction was confirmed when MAM found photos of some one else who had done similar.

Bench tested in steam and all seemed sweet. Track test this weekend.

Thanks. I dabbed some paint on parts to make them less conspicuous, I am track testing this afternoon.

That is the receiver LED which is a we bit too bright in full darkness and too red, if it was a orange to yellow glow then that would be better. Plod is going to make a cover to subdue it a bit.

Factory paint. (Chinese ? ) Captain Plod has a new appreciation of Accucraft quality and the paint work is marvelous, better than some outside paid for paintwork and lining jobs. Makes Roundhouse paint jobs look very ordinary.
When on the recent Welsh trip MAM received a S/H Accucraft "Cranmore " for her birthday. When Plod and MAM returned to downunder a request was made to the Red Room staff for RC to be fitted. This was done and track tested these last three days and with the Slomo wagon, which transform running. 43 min run times no problem.

Accucraft paintwork quality has improved considerably since their association with Aster. I assume the paintwork is done in China, as the factories that make Hornby, etc. have been doing excellent paintwork on model trains since the '80s.

Satin paintwork with pad printed lining and lettering looks very good on garden scale models. Some people like high gloss paintwork on models, I'm one of the ones that doesn't.......

It's very difficult to match pad printed lining and lettering by hand, especially on complex surfaces. Been there, done that.

Yes, that is a hoot.
Paul suggested this one day when I was on with him when I and other young lads were shunting Minffordd yard whilst training on Hugh Napier.
We are actively planning a return reply video and it will be high tea or such like.

When I got there I bought a Tweed cap from the shop near Britannia bridge just for this.
This was my third trainee trip firing a Garratt. I got to fire all three serviceable Garratts.
I am back next year for 5 weeks to give passing out on the WHR a serious nudge.
