Dazza your workmanship is astonishing, but more so your patience, slow and easy gets there, and it is looking great.Hydrostatic Dazza wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 9:27 pm I had drawn up a tool box with tabs so the sides lined up so this was also in the little package from Model Engineer LASER, cooked up with 243 solder. This will hide the handle for the bypass valve.

Monday night in the Llewellyn Loco works Red Room workshop. Some KNUPFER hinges and 0.80 rivets. All is going to plan for this tool box.

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
Thank you. What I try to do is push my skills, I am only following what others have done before. My need to is to learn and get the reward of satisfaction of it working out. Each little project part of the loco build is an enjoyment. I am learning more each day as I had no idea of garden steamers. I am not a moderl, it is not my thing since Airfix kits in the 1970's. I do not intend to make another garden steamer as I want to move on to making a 5" gauge loco in detail. (QR C17 class # 253 as delivered in 1921) Painting is the process I dread the most, but I have Chris Vines book and a few others to assist me.

That is exquisite. Each part is a little project in its own right.

Thank you and also it is how I think and approach these things, as a little project, or I would be cowering in a corner, muttering incoherently and dribbling all over myself. (Some argue I do this now)
This whole build has escalated ten fold in complexity from the day I started this.

Battery tray and a cunning plan for the charger lead port is being hatched. Also the tender horn keep is done, inspired by the Burma # 9 loco.

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
I have to work out the path and connections for the flow of electrons to the loco, so line it all up for the first time.

Absolutely stunning. I think I've said it before but I wish I had even a fraction of your talent, patience and eye for exactitude. Every minute detail is a mini masterpiece - even down to the door covering the charge socket!

From left to right of pic. Regulator, Whistle, Blower and Reverser. The Cylinder drain servo is behind the front buffer beam. The cylinder drain servo is not installed at the moment but it has been and it is the only one I have made the operating linkages for at this time.bambuko wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 6:08 pmI would be interested in more detailed description of what servo does what? pleaseHydrostatic Dazza wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 12:45 am The first servo fit up. Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
While Captain Plod waits for some samples of small electrical plugs for the tender to loco stream of electrons to flow down, he got the S16 cow catcher casting a good going over with the files and fitted it up. Not part of the original plan however, after the troubles with the pesky cows at the Orchid House loop senior management who grew up on a farm likes cow catchers so....

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
Sunday in the Red Room while MAM was assisting with a wood firing at her Pottery club. Much modified Swift16 tank loco steps, chopped and filed and then soldered up and fitted. Some bicycle blade spokes were used as solder fingers. Spokes are very useful in the workshop. Loco Steps are fitted the tender steps to be fitted up tonight.

I find it quite amusing that S16 flatly refuses to post bits to Canada under any circumstance but WILL post them to Australia!
