ive gotta more then agree on your statesman on 45mm. a few friends model 45mm and i thought 45mm would be the best way to go.

Hi folks. I have not considered using sunset valley track from argyle thanks for the suggestion. im looking into building a battery loco similar to a narrow gauge mine loco using a IP engineering chassis kit.

Hi folks. I have not considered using sunset valley track from argyle thanks for the suggestion.

45mm gauge is probably a better idea in Aust. If you've already been given some LGB, you may decide to continue with the heavy rail. It doesn't look as good, but is close to indestructible.

Argyle also do Accucraft 'Euro' track which is more or less LGB compatible. You also have a couple of other retailers of garden track up your way.

'Branchline' at Croydon sells LGB track and can probably get Peco SM45 track in to order.

There's also 'Trains for the Garden' in Silvan, who sells LGB, Piko which is LGB compatible but a little cheaper and AusRail, which comes as LGB size rail and sleeper units to assemble into flex track. I've never been there, so no idea what is actually in stock, but the price lists are on the website.

I know trains in the garden that is where a mate gets his track from.
i will ask branchline about the LGB track when im next in there.

The drawback that LGB rail has, giant rail profile, is only when it is new and shiny. Within one year or so the shine is away and the track gets dark brown/ black in colour. Then the big rail profile is not obvious anymore.
I made several radii of R1 track, by sawing the plastic joints between the ties on one side of the track and bending the R1 settrack open in a vice. You can make any type of curves that way very cheap, because the R1 settrack is not wanted that much and very cheap to buy. That way you can make a gentle bent inwards when you enter a curve, making it look very natural. The trains like it also, certainly when you run with live steam loco's.
And you don't need to be very precise with your trackbed, since the track doesn't bend under the weight of your locomotive it smoothens out irregularities in the bed.

one little thing on your layout plan: There is a very sharp curve with a counter curve directly behind it. I would try to avoid that by adding a straight between the curves or make the transitions easier by using homebent settrack.

Hi folks. Ronan AKA cooltrain and i did the final plan for the EGCT last night. as well as figuring out what stock im wanting/needing for my line.
the locos are
1 MSS 0-4-0 (already got)
2 Ip engineering simplex.
3 Roundhouse Sammie.
4 Roundhouse Lady anne Brunswick Green,Radio control and insulated wheels.
and 17 wagons for my line.

That yard will be nice to shunt from whatever side you approach. It will be good to revisit that list in 4 years and see how much stock you have accumulated.

Hi folks. i got the track and when i put the loco on the track only one of the wheels where on the track. and the track looks like 32mm gauge not 45mm so im going to sell the track and with the money from the track im going to put it to some money for the track for the line.

I would keep the 45mm track, there is more choice of locos and rolling stock to run than on 32mm.
